The CCAC has discovered that 6 police officers of the Public Security Police Force often took sick leave and went to the Mainland China for entertainment or private purpose during sick leave. They were charged with document forgery and fraud, while the case was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office today (29th April).
The CCAC previously received a report alleging that some police officers went outside the territory of Macao for entertainment after taking sick leave. It was discovered in the investigation that during 2006 to 2008, 6 police officers always used sickness as the excuse for their absence from work and went to the Mainland China for entertainment or private purpose. The police officers usually went to the emergency department of the Hospital Centre S. Januario to consult a doctor 1 to 2 hours before the mid-night shift started. They told the doctors that they felt sick and requested for doctor¡¦s certificates as proofs of 1 to 2 days¡¦ sick leave. Although the certificates required them to stay at home for rest, they went to the Mainland China for entertainment or private purpose via the Barrier Gate and came back on the next day in order to escape from the nightshift from 0:00am to 8:00am. Moreover, it is suspected that the involved policemen who claimed sick collectively travelled to and fro the Mainland China.
Among the 6 police officers, the one who has travelled outside the territory during sick leave the most times, has taken 37 days of sick leave within 2 years, while others has taken 9 to 18 days of sick leave during which they left Macao.
Someone has confessed to have committed the fraudulent acts in the course of investigation and the case has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office.
