A civil servant working for the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau refused to cooperate in an investigation and attacked CCAC investigators during an operation the day before yesterday (March 19).The civil servant was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office today (March 21) on charges of coercion and resisting authority.

The suspect, surnamed Lei, male, aged 50, is an inspector of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau. On March 19, several CCAC investigators were about to take the suspect back to the CCAC headquarters for questioning when he attempted to flee forcibly and attacked some of the investigators. The other investigators apprehended the suspect afterwards and found on him dozens of bank account records and a number of signed and amount specified cheques.

Preliminary investigation showed that the suspect owned more than 50 real properties and 3 commercial establishments that are in business. The CCAC will further investigate the sources and nature of these assets.
