Two inspectors of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau stationed in Galaxy Waldo Hotel and Resort allegedly abused their power and demanded money from a player last night (15th December). They were arrested by the CCAC investigators on the spot. The case was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office today (16th December).

The CCAC received information earlier indicating that certain inspectors of the bureau had been annoying players in a newly opened casino by different means in an attempt to extort advantages. After investigations, the CCAC gathered some evidence and confirmed that someone had allegedly breached the law. At around 10 o'clock last night, when the two inspectors of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau stationed in Galaxy Waldo Hotel and Resort were demanding chips from a player, the CCAC investigators caught them red-handed and seized chips worth a total of MOP13,000 and about MOP20,000 in cash.

During investigations, someone admitted to having received chips. The chips and cash seized were also obtained earlier in a similar way.

In accordance with the regulations governing the staff of the public administration, the inspectors sent to station in casinos are prohibited by law from engaging in any gaming-related activities. The law also bans the inspectors from carrying chips and cashing in them.
