Since June 2022, the CCAC has been repeatedly receiving complaints from the same citizen claiming that there was illegal parking in the area for picking up/ setting down passengers or loading/ unloading goods at the Patane Market. He also gave some suggestions on road installations and transport policies.
Upon investigation, it was found that there were a no-parking sign and some marks on the roads in the area for picking up/ setting down passengers or loading/ unloading goods at the Patane Market. Moreover, according to the data provided by the Public Security Police Force, the bureau had all along been carrying out prosecutions for illegal parking in the area. The CCAC did not find any administrative illegality or irregularity in the handling by the bureau.
As regards some suggestions raised by the complainant on road installations and transport policies, it is noteworthy that the relevant issues necessitate overall coordination between urban planning and the transport network, and therefore public departments not only should humbly listen to public concerns but they also should be responsible for balancing the considerations of the needs of all parties and the use of public funds in a pragmatic manner. The fact that the department did not accept the personal opinions of the complainant does not mean that inaction existed.
