Following the first showing of the serial event "Join Together for a Clean Election" at Lok Ieong Garden at Fai Chi Kei, the CCAC held the second outdoor showing at the Flower City Garden in Taipa in the afternoon of 18th August in order to extensively disseminate the message of upholding probity of election in the community by multiple approaches. The event attracted a lot of citizens.
The opening ceremony of the event, which started at 3:30pm, was officiated by the Chief of Cabinet of the Commissioner Against Corruption, Sam Vai Keong, Secretary-General of Legislative Assembly Electoral Affairs Commission, Kou Peng Kuan, member of Administrative Council of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Ma Kam Keong, President of the Neighbourhood Association of Coloane, Sam Iok Ha, and Vice-President of Board of Directors of the Neighbourhood Association of Taipa, Iun Ioc Va.
In his opening address, Sam Vai Keong noted that the fairness and integrity of election are crucial to the development of Macao and citizens' well-being, while electoral corruption seriously damages the rule of law. As the election watchdog, the CCAC is carrying out various works on prevention and combat of electoral corruption. For alleged illicit acts involving the election, the CCAC will strictly enforce the law to investigate every case and will maintain close communication and cooperation with the Legislative Assembly Electoral Affairs Commission to closely monitor the whole process of the election so as to ensure the probity, fairness and justice of the election.
Sam added that citizens' support and cooperation is extremely important to the fostering of a healthy electoral culture. Therefore, the CCAC has carried out a series of promotion and education works to spread the message of upholding a clean election. He hoped that the candidates will fully understand and abide by the law and compete with each other fairly and the voters will respect their right to vote and keep themselves away from temptations and traps of electoral bribery.
During the event, a variety show was staged, where the theme song "Bright Road" on clean election was performed by local singer Fong Pak Lam. Other performances included Hip-Hop dance, "Bianlian", the Chinese dramatic art known as "Face-changing" and stage play, which called for citizens' support for a clean election and rejection of corruption. The event also featured booth games and exhibition panels delivering important messages that citizens need to pay attention to during the Legislative Assembly Election.
The last showing of the event "Join Together for a Clean Election" will be held in the afternoon of 24th August at the Park of Iao Hon Market.
