The CCAC held the Launching Ceremony of Collected Essays of Conference “Prevention and Suppression of Corruption in the Private Sector: Reality and Foresight” at 10:30 am on 23rd February 2010 at Macau Tower Convention & Entertainment Centre. The Chief Executive, Dr. Chui Sai On, officiated the ceremony and delivered a speech, expressing the Macao SAR Government’s concern for corruption prevention. At the same time, the CCAC also held the Seminar on Corruption Prevention in the Private Sector during which around 500 experts from various fields and representatives of political and commercial associations from Macao shared the experiences in promoting integrity management and business ethics in the private sector with delegates of anti-corruption agencies of Mainland China and Hong Kong and representatives of the commercial sector in Hong Kong.

| Conference “Prevention and Suppression of Corruption in the Private Sector: Reality and Foresight” |
|
Co-organized by the Ministry of Supervision of the People’s Republic of China, the ICAC of Hong Kong and the CCAC of Macao, the conference entitled “Prevention and Suppression of Corruption in the Private Sector: Reality and Foresight” took place at the Grand Ballroom of the MGM Grand Macau during 9th to 10th November 2009. Around 180 members of the organizers, the related supervisory agencies and the enterprises in the three places, members of the Executive Council and the Legislative Assembly of Macao, and academic staff of universities and research institutes in Macao reflected on the current situation and effect of the prevention and suppression of corruption in the private sector and expressed their expectations.
Through the conference, the graft-fighting agencies and private enterprises in the three places had in-depth discussions and exchanged views on supervisory mechanism, corruption prevention measures and integrity management in order to contribute to enterprises’ stable operation and enhancement of their competiveness as well as regional reform and development of the three places. The conference comprised three sessions, namely “How the Private Enterprises in China, Hong Kong and Macao Participate in the Development of the Greater Pearl River Delta through Integrity Building”, “Corruption in Private Enterprises during the Process of Development of China, Hong Kong and Macao and the Causes” and “Practice and Effect of Prevention and Suppression of Corruption in the Private Sector in China, Hong Kong and Macao”. The speakers include representatives of the organizers, private companies, universities and supervisory institutions in the three places.

| The CCAC Initiated Promotion of the New Law Prevention and Suppression of Corruption in the Private Sector |
As the law Prevention and Suppression of Corruption in the Private Sector entered into force on 1st March 2010, the CCAC initiated the first phase of the promotion of the law in October 2009. A number of seminars have been carried out. During the seminars, Ex-Deputy Commissioner, Endy Tou, and Advisor, Vu Ka Vai, analysed the conditions which would constitute an offence with case studies and explanation of provisions so as to strengthen participants’ understanding of the new law.
