The CCAC Gathered Opinions about Extension of Anti-Corruption Jurisdiction to the Private Sector

According to the Policy Address 2008 of the Macao SAR Government, the CCAC's jurisdiction will be extended to the private sector. Before drafting the law, the CCAC carried out a series of promotions about “how to extend anti-corruption jurisdiction to the private sector” in order to collect opinions from different strata of the society to enhance the practicability of the law.

 
Forum “Private and Public Sectors: Towards Integrity and Fairness”

On 6th March 2008, the CCAC organized a forum entitled “Private and Public Sectors: Towards Integrity and Fairness”. Experts and scholars from Macao, Hong Kong and Portugal were invited to deliver speeches. Over 700 participants, including members of the Executive Council and the Legislative Assembly, judges and public prosecutors, senior management and staff of public departments, leadership and representatives of civil associations, employers and representatives of various private institutions and sectors, exchanged views about the necessity to legislate against corruption in the private sector and related issues.

Symposia “Anti-Corruption Extends to Private Sector”

From April to June 2008, the CCAC co-organized a series of symposia entitled Anti-Corruption Extends to Private Sector” with a number of associations from different strata of society so as to collect public opinions on the extension of jurisdiction over the private sector. Experts from different professions in Hong Kong were invited to be speakers to share their experiences in professional ethics and integrity management.
